Allergy Relief
Allergies may include allergic reactions to certain foods, dust mites, drugs, spores, feathers, animal dander and pollens. Repeated exposure to these substances causes an allergic reaction. Allergies do not only affect the eyes, nose and skin but allergies may have an affect on the lungs, stomach and even brain. Allergies can start or add to headaches, anxiety, arthritis and even muscle pain, to list a few of the possible symptoms of allergies. However, allergy relief is at hand with a host of supplements.Traditional or conventional forms of allergy relief include the use of prescription antihistamine products, including Zyretc and Benedryl. Although these prescription drugs offers immediate allergy relief, they have little use in long term allergy relief and have a host of side effects, such as fatigue, dry mouth and mood disorders.
Recent studies have shown that many natural supplements exists which offer a long term effect in allergy relief and because they are totally natural have no damaging or harmful side effects. Vitamin C is an excellent natural antihistamine and is able to greatly contribute to allergy relief. Vitamin C may either be taken as a supplement or one could eat foods which contain high levels of vitamin C.
To receive allergy relief from rhinitis and hay fever symptoms, a stinging nettle root contains excellent allergy relief properties. It has also been proven highly beneficial in preventing bronchial spasms which are associated with asthma. The recommended dosage of the nettles is 500-1000mg three times a day.
Another excellent allergy relief agent is found in quercetin, a bioflavonoid or plant pigment, which is found in black tea, broccoli, onions, red apples and red wine. The quercetin is known to rapidly slow down or reduce the mixture of certain enzymes which have a direct link to triggering allergic reactions. However, the use of quercetin for allergy relief is a slow process and it must be taken for many months before signs of effectiveness are seen.
In terms of combating allergies and ultimately finding allergy relief, it has been discovered that a diet which is almost free from grains; including wheat, breads, pasta and corn, as well as avoiding foods which are high in Omega-6, such as red meat may offer immediate allergy relief. It is believed that these food produce high levels of arachidonic acids, and this leads to more inflammatory chemicals produced in the body – this being a massive trigger for most allergens.
A diet high in fish oil which provides a rich source of Omega-3 has proven to offer effective allergy relief, as the Omega-3 is able to reduce the individual’s leukotriens, the chemical which is responsible for asthma as well as a host of other allergic reactions. Studies have shown that by following a diet rich in Omega-3 can reduce allergies by up to 75%.
There are blood tests available to determine the exacting course of the allergy, before embarking on allergy relief it is wise to understand and pinpoint the course of the allergy and thus avoiding the triggers.
